Evaluation of general and specific combining ability from a four generation wheat diallel.
Abstract
The F1 , F2, backcross and selfed generations of a five parent complete diallel cross of common wheat (tritici aestivum L.) were used as materials in the study . the experimental data for two locations were analysed with respect to general and specific combining ability. The inter-location effects were assessed by factorial ANOVA and stability of five cultivars over two locations was evaluated through regression analysis. the Characters considered were : onset- of-heading . first heading heading-span, plant height, number of tillers per plant , number of spikellets per spike.
