The genetics of flowering time in raphanus sativus l. i. bidirectional selection
ABSTRACT:
The genetics of flowering time in raphanus sativus was studied through biodirectional selections. Indivisual plant selection , from the original open pollinated parent, was practiced for six generations for late flowering, and for four generations for early flowering . realized heritabilities of mean flowering time were computed using the forula of genetic advance Gs= k x St. dev. x h2. The average realized heritability in the first four generations of selection was 37.42 %. The assumptions on which these estimations were based and the limitations of the results are descriped and discussed. The estimation od realized heritability in more advanced generations was somewhat lower, about 33 %. From the results of selection in the opposite direction it was concluded that an appreciable amount of genetic variability was present even after four gemerations of selections. Since planting time had a great effect on the mean flowering day, transformation of data is necessary to make comparisons between plantings at different times. The assumptions for such a transformation are discussed.

A contribution to the autecology of capparis decidua (forsk) edgew seed germination and the effect of topographic conditions on the growth, abundance and
ABSTRACT:
The good mechanism of pollination and the large productions of the seeds anf fruits are responsible for the wide distribution of capparis decidua. Seeds have high percentage of germination but lose their viability with the lase of time.after two months the germination reduced from 96% to 58% and after four months it remained only 28%. Moderate warm temperature is needed for the establishment of seediongs and their rate of growth is very low.

Some thecate dinophyceae from inshore waters of karachi
ABSTRACT:
The present paper describe the atanomy and ecology of the following thecate dinophyceae. Pronocentryn micants , phalachroma rotundatam, dinophysis ocum D. candata , D. miles and ornithicersus steimii. These were studied from manora channel and korangi creek near Karachi.pakistan for a period of one year from april , 1970 to march, 1971. Most species were neritic.
