SOME MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PHENOLOGICAL STAGES ACCORDING TO BBCH SCALE OF CRATAEGUS MONOGYNA JACQ. VAR. MONOGYNA NATURALLY DISTRIBUTED IN ATABEY (ISPARTA), TURKEY

AYSE GUL SARIKAYA
Abstract

This study has been performed to determine some morphological and phenological properties of the Crataegus monogyna Jacq. var. monogyna which naturally distribute in Atabey, a district rich in biodiversity. Morphological characteristics such as leaf size, leaf breadth, leaf stalk length, number of leaf lobes, fruit size and diameter and fruit weight and inflorescences have been measured in order to determine the morphological characteristics. Phenological growth stages were recorded by observations according to the BBCH (Bundesanstalt, Bundessortenamt and Chemical Industries) scale. Statistical analyses were performed with GLM models using SPSS. When morphological characteristics are examined, the Atabey2 genotype can be considered as hopeful in terms of fruit weight, fruit width and fruit diameter. Determination of the stages of phenological development of Crataegus taxa according to the BBCH scale, which has an important place as a non-wood forest product, has importance in terms of knowing the collection time of plants' organs to be evaluated and supervising collection and sustainability. This study performed was the first study in which BBCH scale was used in the analysis of the phenological development of the Crataegus monogyna Jacq. var. monogyna.
