Study on the quality of epimedii folium produced from epimedium pubescens in lueyang

Abstract
The contents of icariin and epimedin C in all parts of Epimedium pubescens in Lueyang of China were determined with RP-HPLC to evaluate the quality of epimedii folium produced from them. The results showed that there were obvious diversity among the contents of icariin and epimedin C in different parts of E. pubescens. The content of epimedin C in fibrous root was the highest in all parts of E. pubescens. The contents of epimedin C in fibrous root and rhizome of E. pubescens were all higher than that of icariin in these parts. The contents of icariin in rhizome of E. pubescens was very low. The stem and leaf of E. pubescens were most qualified for serving as epimedii folium because the contents of icariin and epimedin C in them were all very high.
