Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Plant Extracts of Withania coagulans

Abstract
After several researches on microorganisms as nanoparticle synthesizing factories, scientists’ attention is drawn towards using plants and plant extracts for nanoparticle fabrication because of their rapid, single step, non-pathogenic and eco-friendly protocols. Withania coagulans belongs to the family Solanaceae which has been known to have many pharmecuetical applications. Methanolic and water based extracts were prepared and phenolic contents were evaluated and the extracts were used to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The AgNPs were characterized by UV-spectroscopy and SEM/EDS. Keywords: Withania coagulans, AgNPs, Phenolics, SEM/EDS.
