Abstract

Stripe (yellow) rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici; one of the most important disease of imposing drastic losses to wheat crops. Recently, the one of largest class of resistance genes encode protein comprising a conserved domain with leucine-Rich Repeat and Nucleotide Binding site have been reported. Besides, the R genes are also needed for the control regulatory mechanism of R-gene modulating defense signaling, though understand molecular mechanisms underline genes resistances to yellow rust disease yet not clear to understand. In present work, to study the function of TaCOPII gene involvement in wheat defense mechanism against strip yellow rust infected by Puccinia striiformis, we isolated different homologous genes highly similar to oryza sativa, sorghum, and arabidopsis. The functional characterization of TaCOPII gene revealed that the expression level of transcripts was upregulated in wheat at early phase of strip yellow rust infection. Moreover, the transcripts of TaCoPII gene was highly induced in interaction with HSP70 gene accumulations. Taken together, we concluded that TaCOPII gene is involved in defense mechanism of wheat against yellow strip rust disease.
