IDENTIFICATION OF FUSARIUM SPECIES OF VEGETABLES IN GREENHOUSES OF KUMLUCA, ANTALYA, TURKEY

Abstract


Purpose of the study is to identify the Fusarium species of vegetables including tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber and melon causing serious production loss in the greenhouses of Kumluca in Antalya province of Turkey. Total of 272 plant samples showing disease symptoms were collected from greenhouses in Kumluca and isolations were made during growing season. Macroscopic and microscopic studies have been conducted on isolated samples to identify the most common isolated genus Fusarium species in greenhouses. Fusarium species isolated were identified as Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium sambucinum, Fusarium semitectum, Fusarium solani, Fusarium poae, Fusarium proliferatum, Fusarium verticilloides and Fusarium sporotrichoides. The pathogenicity Fusarium species were conducted under pot conditions. Disease severity of Fusarium spp. changed between 48-92%. Among Fusarium species, Fusarium verticillioides was found as the most virulent species in pepper.
