PERFORMANCE OF SOME IMPORTANT AGRONOMIC CHARACHTERISTICS OF BRASSICA JUNCEA L. GENOTYPES UNDER FALL SOWING AT TWO LOCATIONS OF TURKEY

Fatma KAYACETIN
Abstract

The study evaluated some important agronomic charachteristics like the thousand seed weight, seed yield, crude oil content, crude oil yield, crude protein content and fatty acid compositions of twenty-eight brown mustard genotypes under agro-climatic conditions of Yenimahalle location (hot humid continental climate - Dsa type) and Haymana location (warm temprate climate - CSb type) Turkey during 2017-2018 growing season under fall sowing conditions. The experiment was carried out using “Split Plots Randomized Complete Block Design” with three replications. The locations were main plots, and the genotypes were sub-plots. The result showed significant differences among the genotypes and the locations. The highest crude oil yields were obtained at Yenimahalle location 124.3 g AK and 123.9 A3 genotypes, respectively. Means of two locations showed oleic acid of 7.42 to 24.54, linoleic acid of 5.81 to 23.97% and erusic acid of 20.87 to 50.25%. Among the genotypes, AK and A3 showed the best performance with respect to the above mentioned characters at two locations, while B27 genotypes performed the poorest. The great variability in genotypes showed their potential for use in phamaceutical, paint and food industry along with breeding of genotypes for biodisel production in future programs.
