COMMULATIVE EFFECT OF FARM YARD MANURE, FOLIAR APPLICATION OF SULPHUR, ZINC ON SOIL AND PLANT NUTRIENTS
Muhammad Mansoor
Abstract
An experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Institute, Mingora Swat for assessing nutrient concentration in soil and wheat through foliar application of sulfur and zinc with and without farmyard manure. Inorganic fertilizers NPK were applied @ of 120- 39.24- 49.8 kg ha-1respectively. Foliar spray of S and Zn were applied to the respective plots @ 4 and 2 kg ha-1respectively. Soil analysis showed that all the nutrients were increased significantly (p<0.05) with application of FYM. Higher concentration of S (18.25 mg kg-1) and Zn (1.12 mg kg-1) was recorded in soil after wheat harvest where foliar application of S and Zn were applied. After harvest, total N in soil was decreased in the treatments where foliar application of S and Zn were applied due to higher uptake of N. Similarly, higher concentration of S (0.18 %) and Zn (14.75 mg kg-1) in plant leaves were recorded in treatments’ where foliar application of S and Zn were applied. So it is concluded that FYM along with the foliar application of S and Zn increase the concentration of P, K, S and Zn in soil as well as higher uptake of N, P, K, S and Zn were recorded in plant leaves.
