NAVEED AKHTAR
Abstract

The present investigation explains floristic composition, phonological behavior and ecological attributes of weeds of wheat at the north of district Swabi, Pakistan during 2016. A total of 90 weed species distributed in 72 genera and 26 families were reported from the study area. Out of 26 families, 23 were dicots having (58 genera and 76 species) and 3 were monocots having (14 genera and 14 species). Annuals contributed 80 (88.9%) species while perennials shared 10 (11.1%) species. Phenological studies indicated that 89 (98.9%), 64 (71.1%) and 9 (10%) species were observed in vegetative stage during January, February and March respectively. While 1 (1.1%), 26 (28.9%), 63 (70%) and 16 (17.7%) species were found in flowering stage during January, February, March and April respectively. Similarly, 9 (10%) and 15 (16.6%) species were observed in both flowering and fruiting stage during March and April while 59 (65.5%) species were found in fruiting stage during April. Life-form spectra showed that Therophytes were dominant and abundant life form with 78 (86.7%) species. Leaf size spectra showed that Nanophylls were major leaf size group with 42 (46.7%) species.
