SALINITY INDUCED ANATOMICAL CHANGES IN SIRIS ( Albizia lebbeck L. )
NOREEN FATIMA
Abstract
Salinity imposition in siris plant causes adjustment at cellular and tissue levels. Different structural variations were observed such as enhanced succulence, changes in cell, cuticle thickness and changes in number and diameter of xylem vessels under salt stress condition. Ground and vascular tissues showed a significant transformation resulting in reduced cortex cell area and interveinal space, vascular bundle and metaxylem vessels area.
