GROWTH AND PRODUCTION OF WHEAT (TD-1) TRITICUM AESTIVUM L., UNDER THE EFFECTS OF NITROGEN AND ZINC SPRAY

Zaheer Ahmed Arain
Abstract

The studies were planned to find out the effects of nitrogen and zinc alone or in combination on the biology of wheat TD-1, at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam. The natural parameters contemplated are plant tallness cm, number of tillers m-2, spike length cm, number of grain spike-1, grain weight in gram plant-1, seed record or index (1000 seed weight g) and grain yield kg ha-1. The factual screening demonstrated that nitrogen and zinc spray at different dosages influenced essentially at (P≤0.05). The greatest plant tallness 65 cm, number of tillers m-2 298.3, spike length 9.2cm, number of grains spike - 1 56.5, grain weight plant-1 24.7 g, seed list 53.3 g, and grain yield 5907.3 kg ha-1 were recorded with 2 % nitrogen + 1 % zinc shower at tillering stage taken after by 2 % nitrogen + 1 % zinc splash at booting stage with 63-2 cm plant tallness. 283.3 number of tillers m-2, 8.7 cm spike length, 54.2 number of grains spike - 1, 22 g grain weight plant-1, 51.5 g seed list, and 5758 grain yield kg ha-1, while least plant tallness 51.3 cm, number of tillers m-2 256.7, spike length 7.0 cm, number of grains spike-1 38, grain weight plant-1 10.1 g, seed file 38 g, and grain yield 4111.7 kg ha-1 were recorded in the untreated control. It is concluded foliar nitrogen at 2 % + 0.1% Zinc remarkably increased the yield of wheat when applied at tillering stage.
