FIRST CHECHLIST OF WILD FLORA OF TEHSIL GUJRAT, PUNJAB PAKISTAN

Abstract


Gujrat, is an unexplored area and it is necessary to explore this area with respect to its wild plant diversity for the first time. Gujrat has diverse wild flora, multiple field trips were conducted during 2016-2017 to record the wild diversity at the different sites of study area. 195 wild plant species recorded from study area, belonging to 151 genera and 61 families, out of which 97% (189) Angiosperms and only 3% (6) Pteridophytes. The most dominant families of study area were Asteraceae (24 species), Poaceae (22 species) and Fabaceae (20 species) with 92% Annuals and 85% Perennials. Based on habit, herbaceous species were dominant with 157 species, Trees and shrubs with 19 species of each. This survey is a part of an ongoing research work in which we will explore the ethnobotanical and phytochemical analysis of the native flora.
