Numerous useful aspect of intercropping systems has both short and long plant mechanisms for its prospective correlation in sunlight consumption for crop production. Because of these advantages intercropping is practised in many countries. Mono-cropping cultivation production has numerous problems and that there exists a sufficient explanation for studying intercropping techniques. Fertilizer use efficiency, crop yield, productivity, economic return, social benefits, controlling the pest, and yield stability are the benefits of intercropping. The objectives of this review are, to evaluate the accessible research articles on the intercropping techniques so as to point out the system as an possible cropping system where it is required consequently, to clarify the scientific confirmations on the compensations and drawbacks of the system in an attempt to make available the relative advantages over the mono-cropping for selection and its influence on food security and the economy of a country especially where there is no a problem of labor, and to designate uses of on farm capitals like water in order to facilitate sustainable crop production for people.
