SEED PRIMING APPLICATION ON SEEDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND MORPHO-PHYSIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CORIANDRUM SATIVUM

Farshid Talat
Abstract

In order to evaluate effects of priming on the germination properties and morpho-physiological traits of the Coriandrum sativum, an experiment consisting of laboratory, green house and field tests was conducted in the patterns of complete randomized design (CRD) with four replications and ten levels of treatments in 2016 at Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center of West Azerbaijan. The purpose of this research was to improve and modify the uniformity in germination, growth rate and subsequently high performance and production of qualified product. In this research Coriander seeds, in compare with control group were pre-treated with water, Folic acid, humic acid, Ascorbic acid, P, K2SO4, Zinc, GA3, and IAA. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of laboratory, green house and filed tests of all traits studied had significant statistical difference in probability level of 1%.The results obtained from extraction of fatty acids found in coriander’s primed seeds, revealed that priming decreases harmful fatty acids. The evaluation of stepwise regression analysis indicated the accession of seven traits entered in to the predictive equation model with coefficient of determination value of 0.973. These seven traits were which explained 97.3 percent of changes associated with trait of total dry weight of root. According to the results of correlation analysis the secondary vigor, dry weight of root, fresh weight of root and root’s diameter were in model with total dry weight and it was significant in probability level of one percent.
