BAKHT NAZ
Abstract

The aim of present study was to find out inter and intra specific variation among four lines of the Brassica juncea and Brassica napus. Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used for evaluation of biochemical and morphological traits. Preliminary result showed the parameters were significantly varied such as number of pods/plant, days to 50 % flowering, pods formation, Number of seeds/pod, weight of 100 seeds and grain yield. It determined PI-26369 genotype was best in terms of grain yield, pods and number of seeds/ plant, pods plus petal length and the genotypes H-19 for early maturity in the region. More oil content were recorded i.e., 49 % from PI-26337 genotype. In PI-26369 genotype seed, erucic acid (34.2 µmol/g) and glucosinolates (54.9µmol/g) were minimum recorded. It is concluded that the PI-26369 genotype is best for cultivation in an area and recommended for further breeding programs.
