EVOLVULUS NUMMULARIUS L. (CONVOLVULACEAE): A NEW ALIEN PLANT RECORD FOR PAKISTAN

Abstract


Evolvulus nummularius L. belonging to family Convolvulaceae is a well distributed plant species in many parts of the world and is first time been reported as naturalized alien plant from Pakistan. It is a perennial herb with small rounded sessile leaves and grows mostly in the moist areas along the road sides, in lawns or turf grounds and along canal banks. Although E. nummularius has some medicinal values but it is considered as naturalized alien weed in many parts of South and Southeast Asia. The geographical distribution, ecology, economical value, invasive status and detail description of E. nummularius along with illustrations are discussed in this paper.
