Datisca cannabina L., a medicinal plant with multipurpose uses

Abstract
Pakistan is a hub of natural medicine which is based on medicinal plants to cure various diseases. Medicinal plants owe medicinal effect due to chemical constituents that express specific pharmacological action depends on structure of the constituent. Natural products isolated from medicinal plants, either as a pure moiety or as a standard mixture of constituents (extracts), serve as basic tolls for novel leads due to the supreme availability of chemical diversity. Current review focuses on phytochemical, as well as medicinal and therapeutic properties of a multipurpose herb, Datisca cannabina. It is used by indigenous communities to treat disorders like cancer and diabetes. This herb has high-value bioactives profile with multiple biological activities that are beneficial to human health. It is a good source of flavonoids. The plant is enriched with dying substances and numerous flavonoids.
