Abstract

The preservation of the ecosystem and its rational use is possible only under the condition of the taxonomic diversity of its components. The Chenopodiaceae Vent. family is a necessary area for research because, due to the abundance of these plants, its various species are actively used in agriculture, ecology, medicine, pharmacology, and public health (in many countries, including Kazakhstan), which increases the value of the research results. This work aims to identify the taxonomic diversity of the Chenopodiaceae Vent. family in the flora of Aktobe floristic district (Kazakhstan). The data collected from 2017 to 2022 using the methods of route survey, analysis of herbarium collections of Kazakhstan, and review of literary sources were used. In the course of the study, classical botanical, ecological, and geographical methods were applied. 78 species belonging to 25 genera were identified, of which seven main genera make up 67.9% of the Chenopodiaceae family. 12 monotypic genera in the family account for 48.0% of the total number of genera. Among the main genera of the family are Salsola, Chenopodium, and Atriplex. The study also provided data on the ecological strategy of species, the spectra of life forms, and the analysis of habitats. Understanding the biodiversity of the Chenopodiaceae Vent. herbage allows developing more rational methods of using natural resources in the region, in particular, for the development of forage crops and understanding the mechanisms of salt resistance and drought resistance.
