PRODUCTION OF SOME SECONDARY METABOLITES OF ANTIBIOTIC NATURE FROM MYCORRHIZAL HELPER BACTERIA ASSOCIATED WITH SOME CONIFERS OF KHANSPUR, KP, PAKISTANPRODUCTION OF SOME SECONDARY METABOLITES OF ANTIBIOTIC NATU

Zeeshan Rasheed
Abstract

Khanspur is a situated in the region of KP, Pakistan and dominated by conifer species including Abies pindrow and Pinus wallichiana that are exclusively mycorrhizal and a home to number of microbial communities those help trees in various ways. Morphological characterization and isolation was carried out following serial dilution method and checked antimicrobial activity of isolated strains in biological screening. Best strains were selected for secondary metabolites production by following shaking fermentation culture technique, FTIR and grams’ staining was carried out. AP 10-2-4 showed highest antimicrobial activity whereas AP 10-6-2 showed the least of it against four bacterial strains viz; Bacillus meurellus, Bacillus subtilis, Acetobacter rhizospherensis and Escherichia coli. FTIR spectrum analysis showed the presence of C–H and C–O stretches with wavenumbers ranging from 500-3500 of antibiotics nature.
