Abstract

A field experiment was carried out to find the effect of zincfoliar spray at the rate of 0.5% at different intervals (control, 50 days after sowing, 100 days after sowing, 50 days after sowing + 100 days after sowing) and molybdenum levels(0, 1, 2 and 3 kg ha-1)application on yield of lentil at Agronomy Research Farm, The Universityof Agriculture Peshawar, Pakistan during Rabi season 2021-2022. The experiment was conducted in RCBD with 3 replications. Markaz-09 variety of lentil was planted at the rate of 25 kg ha-1. Results showed that zinc applied at 50 days aftersowing + 100 days after sowing had significantly increases number of nodu1es plant-1(23), early flowering (109) and physiological maturity (157), dry matter of leaves(62 g m-2), (111 g m-2) at flowering and physiological maturity dry matter of pods (435 g m-2) at physiological maturity stages, number of pods plant-1(91), thousand seeds weight (32 g), biological yield (3987kg ha-1), seed yield (1376kg ha-1) as compared to other intervals. Lower number of pods plant-1(86), thousand seeds weight (26g), biological yield (3445kg ha-1), seed yield (1117kg ha-1)was noted from control plots. Molybdenum applied at the rate of 3 kg ha-1 produced maximum number of nodu1es plant-1 (25), early flowering (107) days and physiological maturity (159) days, plant height (55 cm), number of branches plant-1 (08), dry matter of leaves (64 g m-2), (113 g m-2) at flowering and physiological maturity stages, dry matter of branches (304 g m-2), pods (439 g m-2) at physiological maturity stages, number of pods plant-1 (92), number of seeds pod-1 (2.0), thousand seeds weight (31 g), biological yield (3884 kg ha-1), seed yield (1344 kg ha-1) than rest of levels. Control plots had significantly lower plant height (49 cm), thousand seeds weight (29 g), biological yield (3457kg ha-1) and seed yield (1086kg ha-1) than molybdenum treated plots. So it is recommended on the basis of results that zinc at 50 days after sowing and molybdenum at the rate of 3 kg ha-1 should be applied for greater productivity of lentil in Peshawar.
