BIOCHEMICAL AND MEDICINAL SIGNIFICANCE OF CYAMOPSIS TETRAGONOLOBA
MUHAMMAD SHAKIR
Abstract
An experiment comprising of twenty-eight promising accessions of guar were collected from Guar Research Station, Bahawalpur, Pakistan to evaluate the genetic variation among the accessions during Kharif season, 2019. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) and data on fifteen traits i.e. biochemical and medicinal significance of cyamopsis tetragonoloba, , proteins and galactomannan content (%). The medicinal plant was botanically described for these parameters; leaflet shape and leaflet margins. The analysis of variance showed highly significant differences among accessions for all traits. The accession BR-99 was found to be higher yielder which produced grain yield of 30.853 g plant-1 followed by BR-2017 which produced 28.067 g plant-1. While the accession S-6520 which produced grain yield of 2.61 g plant-1. The following accessions namely BR-99, BR- 2017, S-5823, S-6558, S-6000, S-5885, BR-90, S-6260, S-6514 and S-6566 could be useful for the future use in research purpose and for selection criteria on the base of interrelationship among characters, better performing lines for seed and fodder yield in terms of quality and quantity.
