NUTRIENT RATIO OF NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS EFFECT ON SEED PRODUCTION OF CHINESE WHEAT LINES.

Abstract


A research was laid out at Agriculture Research Farm University of Agriculture Peshawar during season of 2020-21. The details of the treatments were used Factor A (0, 45, 60, 75 kg P ha-1) and Factor B (0, 90, 120, 150 N kg ha-1). Experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design having four replications. Phosphorus was applied at sowing stage and nitrogen was applied at three different stages. A plot size of 3×3m having 10 rows of 3m length and 30cm of width was used. DAP was used as a source of Phosphorus and urea was used as source of nitrogen. Crop was sown on 6th November 2020 and was harvested on 6th of May 2021.Other agronomic practices, including irrigation, hoeing, weeding, etc., were done when required. Statistical analysis of the data showed that both the treatments of phosphorus and nitrogen have significantly affected all the parameters except days to emergence and emergence m-2. In case of nitrogen fertilization nearly days to emergence (11.9), maximum emergence m-2(108.6), extended average leaf area leaf-1 (27.7cm), leaf area index (3.1), productive tillers (293), un-productive tillers (16), grains spike-1(60), heavier 1000 grains weight (49.1g), spike weight (4.7g), grain yield (4893 kg ha-1), biological yield (12845 kg ha-1), harvest index (38.5%). Crop growth rate (10.1 g m-2 day-1), Whereas the minimum days to emergence (10.5), minimum emergence m-2 (105.1), shortened average leaf area leaf-1 (24.3cm), minimum leaf area index (2.7), productive tillers (227), un-productive tillers (25), grains spike-1(39), light 1000 grains weight (35.1g), spike weight (2.6g), grain yield (3631 kg ha-1), biological yield (8541 kg ha-1), harvest index (43%), Crop growth rate (7.8 g m-2 day-1). In case of Phosphorus fertilization nearly days to emergence (11.7), maximum emergence m-2(109.3), extended average leaf area leaf-1 (28.1), leaf area index (3.1), productive tillers (280), un-productive tillers (16), grains spike-1 (57), heavier 1000 grains weight (48.5g), spike weight (4.4g), grain yield (4664 kg ha-1), biological yield (12515 kg ha-1), harvest index (37%), Crop growth rate (9.7 g m-2 day-1). Whereas the delayed emergence (10.9), minimum emergence m-2(105.5), shortened average leaf area leaf-1 (22.8), leaf area index (2.5), productive tillers (256), un-productive tillers (23), grains spike-1(38), light weight1000 grains weight (34.8g), spike weight (2.8g), grain yield (3637 kg ha-1), biological yield (8518 kg ha-1), harvest index (42%), Crop growth rate (7.9 g m-2 day-1). It is concluded from the research that the application of 150 kg N ha-1 along with 75 kg P ha-1 significantly improved the yield and yield attributes of Chinese wheat lines in Peshawar valley.
