Abstract

ABSTRACT Organic fertilizers are used for the crop production as a substitute of chemical fertilizer, because the efficiency of organic fertilizers cannot be ignored. The current research was conducted at the Agronomy Research Farm, The University of Agriculture Peshawar, during winter 2019-20. The experiment comprised various phosphorus (40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1), humic acid (5 and 10 kg ha-1) and farmyard manure levels (5 and 10 kg ha-1). Experiment was carried out using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. Each replication had one control plot with no phosphorus (P), humic acid (HA) and farmyard manure (FYM). Results showed that days to emergence and emergence m-2 were non-significantly affected by P, HA and FYM. Among the P levels, delayed anthesis (126.5 days) and maturity (163.4 days) were noted with application of 40 kg ha-1. Maximum leaf area tiller 1 (129.8 cm2), leaf area index (4), total dry weight at anthesis (762 g m-2) and at physiological maturity (1202 g m-2), tillers (308 m-2), plant height (97.4 cm), spikes (266 m-2), grains spike-1 (49), thousand grains weight (44.5 g), biological yield (8870 kg ha-1), grain yield (4069 kg ha-1) and harvest index (45.9 %) were recorded with 120 kg P ha-1. In case of the HA rates, delayed anthesis (126.4 days) and maturity (162.8 days), and highest leaf area tiller 1 (122.5 cm2), leaf area index (3.6), total dry weight at anthesis (759 g m-2) and at physiological maturity (1197 g m-2), tillers (297 m-2), plant height (96.7 cm), spikes (262 m-2), grains spike-1 (49), thousand grains weight (44.2 g), biological yield (8698 kg ha-1) and grain yield (3931 kg ha-1) and were recorded with 10 kg ha-1, while harvest index was found non-significant. Among the FYM levels, delayed anthesis (126.4 days) and maturity (162.5 days), and highest leaf area tiller 1 (120.7 cm2), leaf area index (3.6), tillers (296 m-2), plant height (96.3 cm), spikes (261 m-2), grains spike-1 (49), thousand grains weight (43.7 g), biological yield (8672 kg ha-1) and grain yield (3935 kg ha-1) and harvest index (45.4 %) were recorded with 10 kg ha-1, while total dry weight at anthesis and physiological maturity were found non-significant. It was concluded that phosphorus at the rate of 120 kg ha-1, humic acid at the rate of 10 kg ha-1 and farmyard manure at the rate of 10 t ha-1 significantly improved yield and yield components of wheat in the agro-ecological condition of Peshawar.
