INFLUENCE OF ORGANIC MATTER, BENEFICIAL MICROBES AND MICRONUTRIENTS ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF WHEAT

Syed Ashfaq Ali
Abstract

Field experiments were carried out to examine the yield and yield components response of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.,cv. Khaista 2017) to poultry manure sources (PMS) and zinc levels (Zn).One experiment was conducted under beneficial microbes (bioaab) at the Agriculture Research Station Harichand Charsadda Pakistan. During winter 2020-2021. These experiments were led in randomized complete block design having three replications and statistical analysis was done combined over bioaab (with and without). The results indicated that wheat crop planted under bioaab took more time to physiological maturity (161 d) and had produced taller plant (99.3 cm) with maximum number of leaves tiller-1 (6.5), mean leaf area (24.7cm-2), leaf area index (4.2), number of fertile tillers (254 m-2), grains spike-1 (50), thousand grains weight 41 g), biological yield (9565 kg ha-1), grain yield (4051 kg ha-1) and harvest index (40.8 %). Amongst the poultry manure treated sources (PM), urea treated poultry manure (UTPM) had maximum days to maturity (161 d), produced taller plants (99.8 cm) with maximum number of leaves tiller-1 (6.3), mean leaf area (24.8 cm-2), leaf area index (4.2), number of productive tillers (260 m-2), grains spike (51), thousand grains weight (42.9 g), biological yield (9678 kg ha-1), grain yield (4139 kg ha-1) and harvest index (42.8 %). Amongst zinc levels (Zn), the highest rate of 15 kg Zn ha-1 resulted in delayed physiological maturity (161 d), with maximum plant height (98.7 cm), number of leaves tiller-1 (6.2), single leaf area (25.3 cm-2), LAI (4.2), number of productive tillers (258 m-2), grains spike-1 (51), thousand grains weight (41g), biological yield (9796 kg ha-1), grain yield (4170 kg ha-1) and harvest index (42.6 %). It is concluded from these experiments that application of urea treated poultry manure along with zinc at the rate of 15 kg ha-1 could enhance yield and yield components of wheat under with and without bioaab application.
