Abstract

Field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of three organic sources (poultry, sheep, cattle) and three nitrogen sources (urea, ammonium sulfate, calcium ammonium nitrate) on productivity and profitability of wheat under full and limited irrigation condition at the Agronomy Research Farm, The University of Agricultural Peshawar, during winter 2020-21. The experiment was carried out under full (4 irrigations) and limited only (two) irrigation. Organic sources at the rate of 10 t ha-1 and nitrogen sources 140 kg ha-1 were applied. The experiment under full and limited irrigation conditions was laid out in randomized complete block design combined over irrigation using three replications. Result showed that poultry manure had significantly delayed days to anthesis (119 days) and physiological maturity (164 days) and increased plant height (101.41 cm), number of leaves (4), leaf area (97.6 cm2), spikes m-2 (282), grains spike-1 (49), thousand grains weight (42.79 g), grain yield (3356 kg ha-1) and biological yield (10154 kg ha-1). Among the nitrogen sources application of urea delayed days to anthesis (118 days) and physiological maturity (165 days) and increased plant height (99.8 cm), spikes m-2 (284), grains spike-1 (49), thousand grains weight (42.80 g), grain yield (3342 kg ha-1) and biological yield (10289 kg ha-1). The full irrigated plots had look more days to physiological maturity (165 days) and produced taller plants (98.8 cm), more spikes m-2 (283), grains spike-1 (49), grain yield (3385 kg ha-1), biological yield (10034 kg ha-1) and harvest index (34%). It was concluded that 140 kg N ha-1 and 10 ton poultry manure ha-1 is recommended for improving the wheat productivity and profitability under full and limited irrigation condition in study area.
