EFFECT OF DIFFERENT POST EMERGENCE HERBICIDES APPLICATIONS ON WEED GROWTH, YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENT OF WHEAT

GHOUS BAKHSH KHOSA
Abstract

ABSTRACT A field study was carried out to evaluate the effect of different herbicides applications on weed growth, yield and yield component of wheat variety TJ-83. T1= control (weedy check), T2= field guard @ 14 (g) acre-1, T43= vipex star @ 1000 (g) acre-1 and T4= buctril super @ 300 ml acre-1 against weeds of wheat. The findings revealed that six weed species were found infesting experimental wheat fields, including Convolvulus arvensis, Chenopodium album, Mililotus alba, Phalaris minor, Anagalis arvensis, and Rumex dentatus, all of which were previously identified in the laboratory. Convolvulus arvensis, Chenopodium album, Mililotus alba, Phalaris minor, Anagalis arvensis, and Rumex dent A total of 296.67 g m-2 weed biomass was generated by the wheat crop under (weedy check) control, which was followed by 63.33 58.00 and 57.66 g m-2 under vipex star @ 1000 (g) acre-1, field guard @ 14 (g) acre-1 and buctril super @ 300 ml acre-1, which were all higher than the control. Under control (weedy check), the highest weed density was recorded (119.67 m-2), followed by 26.00, 23.50, and 19.16 m-2 under vipex star @ 1000 (g) acre-1, field guard @ 14 (g) acre-1, and buctril super @ 300 (ml) acre-1, respectively. In the buctril super at 300 ml acre-1, the wheat crop produced an 83.33 cm plant height, 7.53 number of tillers plant-1, 11.50 cm spike length, 42.50 number of grains spike-1, 51.56 g seed index (1000 grain weight), and a grain yield of 4795.0 kg ha-1. The wheat crop with a vipex star at 1000 (g) acre-1 produced an 80.00 cm plant height, 7.22 number of tillers plant-1, 9.76 cm spike length, 39.00 number of grains spike-1, 49.13 g seed index (1000 grain weight), and 4695.0 kg ha-1 grain yield, according to the results of the experiment. The wheat crop grown under field guard conditions at 14 (g) acre-1 produced a plant height of 78.00 cm, a number of tillers plant-1 of 6.45, a spike length of 10.50 cm, a number of grains spike-1 of 38.50, a seed index of 47.68 g (1000 grain weight), and a grain yield of 4652.3 kg ha-1. The wheat crop under control (weedy check) produced a plant height of 67.00 cm, a number of tillers plant-1 of 5.16, a spike length of 7.90 cm, a number of grains spike-1 of 31.90, a seed index of 37.50 g per 1000 grain weight, and a grain yield of 3195.0 kg ha-1. All of the growth and yield components of the wheat crop were strongly influenced by various herbicides, with the maximum grain yield ha-1 generated at buctril super @ 300 ml acre-1 being the most affected.
