RESPONSE OF WHEAT TO POTASSIUM AND ORGANIC SOURCES WITH AND WITHOUT BIOAAB

Abstract


ABSTRACT Two separate experiments were laid out to examine the response of wheat to potassium (K) and organic sources (OM) with and without bioaab. These experiments were carried out at the Agronomy Research Farm, The University of Agriculture Peshawar, during winter 2019-2020. Both experiments were examined in randomized completely block design using four replications over bioaab. According to the results plots treated with bioaab showed more days to anthesis (126 days), days to physiological maturity (157 days), leaf area tiller-1 (cm2) (115.5 cm2), leaf area index (3.2), tillers m-2 (278), plant height (92.4 cm), spike length (10.2 cm), spike m-2 (256), grains spike-1 (50), thousand grains weight (43.2 g), biological yield (8968 kg ha-1), grain yield (3911 kg ha-1) and harvest index (43.6 %). Amongst potassium sources, application of SOP (90 kg ha-1) improved days to anthesis (126 days), days to physiological maturity (157 days), leaf area tiller-1 (cm2) (115 cm2), leaf area index (3.2), tillers m-2 (276), plant height (92 cm), spike length (10.2 cm), spike m-2 (254), grains spike-1 (50), thousand grains weight (43.2 g), biological yield (8884 kg ha-1), grain yield (3884 kg ha-1) and harvest index (43.7 %). Amongst the organic sources application of FYM 10 tons-ha enhance days to anthesis (127 days), days to physiological maturity (153 days), leaf area tiller-1 (cm2) (119.6 cm2), leaf area index (3.3), tillers m-2 (276), plant height (92.7 cm), spike length (11.2 cm), spike m-2 (255), grains spike-1 (51), thousand grains weight (44.2 g), biological yield (9062 kg ha-1), grain yield (4064 kg ha-1) and harvest index (44.8 %). It is concluded from the experiment, application of potassium source in the form of SOP at (90 kg ha-1 and organic source in the form of farmyard manure (FYM) at (10 t ha-1) could improve growth, yield and yield components of wheat in the study area.
