PHYTOPHARMACEUTICAL INVESTIGATION OF LEAF AND RIPE FRUIT EXTRACTS OF IRESINE HERBASTII

Abstract
Everything present in nature has its own importance and significance. The quest of knowledge and awareness has made humans able to think and ponder about the phenomenon taking place in nature and especially when it is related to the wellbeing of humans. From the very beginning of the establishment of life on earth, man has always found the solution to every problem from nature. Especially when it comes to health or to cure the wounds or when man needed to compact with any kind of disease and infection he always sought help from nature. In simple words, we can say that living entities including plants are being used for medicinal purposes. Now, no matter many synthetic drugs are also available in the market but still they could not replace the plants. This is the reason we were interested in finding out the pharmacological and medicinal properties of a specific plant Iresine herbstii. For that purpose, extracts of selected plant Iresine herbstii parts (leaves, stem) were made in different solvents. Solvents used for this purpose were of different polarity. To make the extracts two methods were employed i.e. direct and sequential methods. The extracts were used to explore the biological and pharmacological activities.
