Abstract

Oxidative stress has been identified to perform a pivotal role in the progress of wide number of complicated diseases and therefore can be a useful target for treatment with the help of antioxidants, employed as reactant specie for neutralization of free radicals by means of oxidation overcoming over production of ROS. Immense interest is experienced in naturally found antioxidants due to their beneficial influence on health. The recent study investigates antioxidant potential and reducing ability of a unique multi herbal extract. Antioxidant ability was determined in vitro by determining extent of radical scavenging capability, 2,2’-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl free radicals were acted upon by radical scavengers of plant extract. The result values ranged over from 55 to 85% DPPH scavenged percent, 45 to 71% as reducing ability and 25 to 55% for superoxide scavenging activity at conc of 5-50 µg/10µL . The lipoxygenase and urease inhibition activity of extract was compared at three different strengths (5, 10 and 50 µg/10µL) which showed an increase in a dose dependent way ranging over 26 to 80%. Overall, it was observed that the newly prepared herbal extract revealed significant strength for the presence of outstanding antioxidant capacity, lipoxygenase and urease inhibitory activity. It might be a useful source for prevention or reduced progress of diseases under oxidative stress.
