A PHYTOSOCIOLOGICAL STUDY OF THE MACCHIE AND PHRYGANA VEGETATION OF BODRUM (MUÄžLA)

Abstract


This study is about the classification and syntaxonomic assignment of the macchie and phrygana vegetations of the Bodrum (MuÄŸla) Peninsula. This investigation was carried out between 2012 and 2013. Vegetation studies were made according to the Braun-Blanquet method and analyzed using PAST classification and NMDS ordination. The authors determined 6 plant associations, all of which are new syntaxa to science, in two different vegetation types. The macchie vegetation consists of Gageo graecae-Quercetum cocciferae Aytepe & Varol ass. nova, Tordylio apuli-Phlomidetum lyciae Aytepe & Varol ass. nova, Inulo viscosae-Nerietum oleandri Aytepe & Varol ass. nova, and Euphorbio acanthothamni-Oleetum europeae Aytepe & Varol ass. nova associations. The phrygana vegetation consists of Helichryso orientalis-Sarcopoterietum spinosi Aytepe & Varol ass. nova and Cisto monspeliensis-Genistetum acanthocladae Aytepe & Varol ass. nova associations.
