MINERAL COMPOSITION, FATTY ACID AND PROXIMATE ANALYSIS OF MEDICINALLY IMPORTANT CHAEROPHYLLUM VILLOSUM WALL EX DC

Abstract


This study presents the mineral, fatty acids and proximate analysis of different parts of Chaerophyllum villosum Wall ex DC when studied during summer and winter. The results showed that the amount of calcium and magnesium was greater in the leaves during summer and lesser in roots during winter. Sodium was greater in summer in stem and lesser in leaf. Copper and iron was greater in winter in leaves and lesser in roots in summer. Pb, Mn, Zn, Co and Cd were also detected in plant. The nutritional analysis showed that moisture, ash, fats and carbohydrates were greater in summer in stem, leaves and roots and compared with winter season. Proteins contents and gross energy level was more in winter compared with summer. The fatty acid analysis revealed that lauric acid was greater in winter in leaves and lesser in stem. Myrsitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid was greater in summer in leaves, stem and root compared with winter. Capric acid and linolenic was greater in winter in leaves and roots compared with summer season.
