Abstract

In the current study phytochemical composition antibacterial, antifungal and anti-biofilm activity of Myaytenus royleanus was carried out by using different extract of fruit and bark. Antibacterial activity was performed by agar well diffusion method, antifungal with tube dilution method and anti biofilm potential was checked with naked eye observation. Phyto-chemical analysis confirm the presence of alkaloids and flavonoids and other secondary metabolite. In antibacterial activity both fruit and bark extract significantly inhibit bacterial strain. The Chloroform extract of both parts show maximum inhibition against Acetobacter bacteria and E. coli demonstrate some resistance to n-hexane fraction. In antifungal prospective Rhizoktonia solani , Alternaria alternata and Rhizopus stolonifer were crossed with plant extract. N-hexane prominently inhibit Alternaria alternata while fusarium oxysporium was significantly inhibited by crude methanolic extract. In antibiofilm assay fraction of both parts drastically broken down colony of Lactobacillus lactis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa most prominently by Chloroform and crude methanolic extract. The assay were repeated with inhibition of plaque of Staphyllococcus aureus and Acetobacter bacteria to finish the doubt of anti-pellicle assay in which chloform and crude methanolic extract show maximum inhibition and does not allow bacteria to settled.
