A review; Life form and impact of parthenium weed (Parthenium hysterophorus L).

Abstract


Abstract Parthenium weed (Parthenium hysterophorus L.) is an annual herb and one of the most aggressive invasive weeds, which is native to the tropics and subtropics of America. Now it occurs in south Asia, Africa and Australia. Mostly they are present on road sides and around the agriculture fields. Over 30 countries worldwide, are threatening from Parthenium hysterophorus L. It is one of the world seven hazardous weed. They adversely affect biodiversity, Hunan beings, live stocks, crop production, natural ecosystem, and resulting the serious economical loss. It also cause milk disease in livestock wile in humans it cause allergy and respiratory diseases. Various approaches are used to control the spreading of this weed (namely mechanical, chemical and biological control). It’s one of the beneficial effect is, composted parthenium increase the yield of many cops due to the presence of high concentration of Mn, Cu, Zn, N, K, and P. The importance of this review to provide general study about the life forms, distribution, effects, and various methods of the control of parthenium weed.
