MORFO-CHARACTERIZATION OF FLOWER STRUCTURE TOWARD KEPOK (Musa paradisiaca L.) CULTIVARS

Abstract
Banana was a fruit that was very popular in the community. It was easily to find, available in various types, and affordable in price. It was contained fairly complete nutritional value. Kepok was one of banana type that widely consumed by the community. It was more diverse cultivars than other types of bananas. These cultivars had different morphological structures, involved at the flower. Flower was played a role in the plant breeding. This study was aims to determine the differences in the morphological structure of flowers among of kepok cultivars. The research sample was taken in the fields of Bandar Lampung City residents, Pesawaran Regency and South Lampung Regency. Morphological characterization was observed at the botany laboratory, Department of Biology, University of Lampung. The results obtained were found 5 banana cultivars, namely yellow, manado, stone, grayish and cotton kepok. Most of them were exhibited same morphological structure of flowers except on the stone-kepok. This cultivar was uniqe at the color of the pollen sac, complex pigmented of tepal, vary tepal color, free tepel apex shape and pistil shape.
