Abstract

Alstroemeria is one of the most famous cut-flowers in European union, and this is owing to its postharvest longevity and a broad color spectra. Nevertheless, premature leaf yellowing decreases the aesthetic value of flowering stems even before opening of the secondary florets in the florescence. This research, were done to evaluate different biochemical and morphological traites of Alstroemeria cut-flowers. longevity screening of 8 varieties of Alstroemeria cut-flowers (including Topaz, Chicago, Mayfair, Onyx, Frosty, Bellevue, Samantha and Dimension) was the purpose of this experiment . The results of the statistical analysis and cluster analysis showed, the mayfair and frosty cultivars have the greatest distance from each others. Mayfair had lowest longevity. Frosty variety has the most significant difference and have the greatest distance with others in terms of biochemical traites and it placed in a separate group of cluster analysis. As the result, two varieties with the lowest and highest longevity were determined. The least peroxidase activity was reported for Frosty that had significant difference with that of Mayfair. Shortest flower diameter was for Chicago and Topaz variety.
