DISCOVERING AJWAIN (TRACHYSPERMUM AMMI) GEL'S NATURAL POWER AGAINST PAIN AND SWELLING
Abstract
Introduction:The Objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of a topical ajwain (Trachyspermum ammi) gel formulation in reducing pain and inflammation through preclinical testing. Trachyspermumammi belongs to Apiaceae family which shows various biological activities due to its phytochemical constituents.Method:Ajwain gel was prepared and all physicochemical /quality control tests and phytochemical were performed and compared with standard that is diclofenac gel. Ajwain gel was also assessed for analgesic and anti-inflammatory acticity invivo on albino rats. In the first method, gel on albino rats were determined by using plethysmometric method.Result:The results showed no significant difference in percent inhibition edema volume when compared with standard at any hour. When ajwain gel was compared with control to determine the percent inhibition of paw edema then an increase in percent inhibition was observed mainly at 5th (21.40%) and 6th hour (28.62%). The Hot plate method was used to analyze the analgesic activity of gel. In third method, the level of analgesic effect was assessed on rats by using tail flick test method. Conclusion:Ajwain gel provides a satisfactory therapeutic response in the treatment of inflammation and analgesia the goal of this study was to create a topical dosage form containing 10% as for set amount of time to treat anti-inflammatory diseases for this purpose several pharmaceutical ingredients were used to make ajwain gel formulation.
