Abstract
A research entitled “A Comparative Study of Various Natural and Synthetic Growth Regulators on Seed Yield and Quality of Maize Hybrids” was carried out at Agronomy Research Farm, The University of Agriculture Peshawar during summer 2024. The experiment had three-replication with randomized complete block design (RCBD). The experiment consisted of two factors: one was maize hybrids (CS-200 and CS-220) and second was growth regulators (Moringa leaf extract (MLE) @ 350 L (30%) MLE solution ha-1, Gibberellic acid (GA3) @ 37 g GA3 in 350 L water ha-1, Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) @ 120 ml (4.5% w/v) NAA solution in 350 L water ha-1, one with no spray and one with fresh water spray @ 350 L ha-1 was also used). Among growth regulators, maximum number of ear m-2 (8), number of grains ear-1 (384), thousand grains weight (241.6 g), biological yield (16484 kg ha-1), grain yield (5072 kg ha-1) and harvest index (31 %) was recorded in moringa leaf extract plots. Among maize hybrids, maximum number of ear m-2 (6), number of grains ear-1 (373), thousand grains weight (233.9 g), biological yield (14355 kg ha-1), grain yield (4198 kg ha-1) and harvest index (29 %). It was concluded that the application moringa leaf extract and maize hybrid CS-220 increased the yield and yield component of maize hybrid.
