Expression Analysis of Nitrogen Metabolism, Starch, and Sucrose Metabolism of Camellia oleifera
Abstract
In order to elucidate the variations in nutrient content, nitrogen metabolism, and the expression of genes related to starch and sucrose metabolism at different growth and development stages of C. oleifera, leaves of the ‘Dabieshan 1’ C. oleifera cultivar collected during the juvenile stage, initial fruiting stage, and peak fruiting stage were selected as experimental material. Nutrient content determination and transcriptome sequencing analysis were conducted on leaf samples during the pre-flowering period, systematically studying the content of nutrients and related metabolic pathways at different growth and development stages of C. oleifera. The results distinguished 9 homologous genes related to nitrogen metabolism and 24 related to starch and sucrose metabolism, respectively, after subjecting the C. oleifera leaves collected during the juvenile stage and the peak fruiting stage to comparison in the KEGG database. As the tree ages, changes in starch and sucrose metabolism pathways in oil tea leaves would lead to differences in the expression levels of sucrose synthase genes, resulting in enhanced sucrose biosynthesis, ultimately leading to increased soluble sugar content in oil tea leaves. These findings can serve as a theoretical foundation for further investigations into energy metabolism during C. oleifera flowering regulation.
