EFFECTS OF SELENIUM ON BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ACCUMULATION OF SELENIUM AND CADMIUM OF BRASSICA NAPUS IN C
SHEN XIAOHUI
Abstract
The effects of different selenium (Se) and cadmium (Cd) treatments on agronomic traits, chlorophyll content, antioxidant enzyme activity and accumulation of Se and Cd in Brassica napus were studied in soil culture. The results showed that low dosages Se (1mg·kg-1) treatment was beneficial to improve the plant height of rapeseed. When the Cd concentration is less than or equal to 10 mg·kg-1, low Se can improve the seed setting rate and yield of rape. Under different Cd stress treatments, low dosages Se (1mg·kg-1) was beneficial to increase chlorophyll content, while high concentration of Se decreased chlorophyll content in rape. Different treatments had different effects on the activities of Catalase (CAT) , Peroxidase (POD) and Superoxide dismutase (SOD). In Cd contaminated soil, the Cd content in different parts of rapeseed with low dosage Se decreased significantly compared with that with high dose Se. Cd content in stems is higher than that in roots and grains. The change rule of Se content in different parts of rape is: root > grain > stem. The preliminary study showed that low concentration of Se (1mg·kg-1) could alleviate the harm of Cd stress to rape to a certain extent, while high concentration of Se (5mg·kg-1) aggravated the harm of Cd stress to rape.
