ALLEVIATION OF LEAD STRESS IN TOBACCO (NICOTIANA TABACUM L) BY USING SALICYLIC ACID SPRAY
Muhammad Saif Ullah
Abstract
The speedy social change, sprawl, and overpopulation effect environment. These economic growth, overpopulation and lack of resources cause the contamination of water, soil and environment. Industrial waste contains different types of heavy metal like Pb, cd which make environment pollutant and cause different types of diseases in plants, animals and humans. Heavy metal stress cause diseases in plants like stunting of growth, chlorosis, necrosis and reduced the uptake of ions. Plant is treated with different level of treatment (control, 5ppm, 5ppm+SA, 9ppm, 9ppm+SA). Result revealed that Pb exposure of different concentration of lead reduce agronomic character, biochemical content like sugar, chlorophyll a, b in Nicotiana tabacum L. In the same way salicylic acid foliar spray improve the morphological character, biochemical mass and biochemical production in Nicotiana tabacum L. Therefore, we can say that salicylic acid foliar spray is responsible for the plant growth under heavy metal stressed condition, production of biochemical mass and different macro and micro nutrients.
