STATE OF ARMERIA SCABRA (PLUMBAGINACEAE) CENOPOPULATIONS ON RYBACHY PENINSULA

MARIJA MENSHAKOVA
Abstract

The research article explores the state of Armeria scabra Pall. ex Schult. population on Rybachy peninsula (Murmansk region, Russian Federation). The species is included in the Red Book of the Murmansk region as rare and nearly-endangered (category 3). The authors asses the age structure and the effective size of three Armeria scabra cenopopulations located in the vicinity of Skorbeevskaya Bay. As exploration of ontogenetic spectra shows, all the studied cenopopulations are small, incomplete, and are dominated by young generative plans: the proportion of vegetative individual species does not exceed 32%. Analysis of the demographic parameters allows to classify the studied cenopopulations as young and maturing, with low self-maintenance ability. Cenopopulations are found nearby the dirt roads, which creates a direct threat for their extinction. High attractiveness of the territory, reflected in the growing tourist inflow, makes the population monitoring as well as special protection measures especially relevant.
