FUNCTIONALIZED CHICK-PEA POD (CSPA2) FOR REMOVAL OF HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM OXYANION FROM WATER.

Abstract

This study described Functionalized Chick-Pea Pod (CSPA2), an agricultural waste product utilized for withdrawal of hexavalent chromium oxyanion from water. Functionalized Chick-Pea Pod (CSPA2) surface area was analyzed by BET surface area analyzer. The further characterization of functionalized Chick-Pea Pod (CSPA2) was achieved by FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM and EDX analysis. Various parameters were investigated. Hexavalent chromium oxyanions analyzed by U.V-Vis spectrophotometer. Desorption of hexavalent chromium oxyanions was successfully made by caustic soda NaOH. The results attained by various parameters was employed to explore Langmuir, Freundlich, D-R isotherms, adsorption-kinetics and thermodynamics of adsorption. The technique successfully utilized Functionalized Chick-Pea Pod (CSPA2) to withdrawal hexavalent chromium oxyanions from various water samples.
