Abstract

Introduction: the impact of drought stress and organic soil amendments (plant compost or poultry manure) on the physical attributes of the soil as well as the yield and quality of faba beans, Materials and Methods: two field trials were conducted during the 2021 and 2022 seasons at a private farm in the Al-Qassim Region in north-central Saudi Arabia. Under all water levels, the plant compost treatment showed the three water relation features' maximum increment.  Result and Discussion: under water stress (50% RI), plant compost treatment produced the most seed yield.  When compared to other treatments, poultry manure treatment provided the lowest values (1.33 tons/ha) with the highest percentage reduction (44.7%). When compared to amendment treatments, the plant compost amendment and the poultry manure amendment treatments had the highest RDI, STI, GMP, YI, and DI values, indicating greater stress tolerance mechanisms. The difference between the two drought stress levels reveals how much the 75% RI has improved. However, compared to their productivity under 50% RI drought stress, Plant compost and poultry manure are upgraded to higher production class range as a result of the 75% RI treatment's ability to improve yield by 60.7 and 52.6%, respectively.
