Ameer Hamza
Abstract

Cotton is considered a cash crop in Pakistan and play major role in running the textile industry. This crop is very sensitive crop in sense of environmental stresses. Heat stress tolerant varieties are necessary to develop for attaining good production of cotton. In current study fifty lines of the cotton (MNH-786, MNH-1016, MNH-1020, MNH-1026, MNH-1035, MNH-1045, MNH-1050, MNH-886, MNH-1090, Okra X hir, Dassi Cotton, Saim Seed -32, FH-114, FH-142, FH-444, FH-490, FH-Super Cotton, FH-Anmol, FH-492, FH-414, FH-494, FH-498, FH-189, FH-415, FH-416, FH-938, RH-Afnan II, RH-King-20, RH-Super, VH-259, VH-305, VH-327, VH-418, VH-427, VH-430, VH-447, SLH-55, SLH-77, SLH- chandi, BH-224 (Bt), BH-226 (Bt), CIM-633, CIM-446, CIM-473, CYTO-515, CIM-573, Bt.CIM-598, Bt-CIM-602 and IR-12). Among these fifty lines ten best performing lines were selected on base of retention percentage. These selected ten lines were further grown under greenhouse conditions among which three lines were taken as tester (MNH-1020, MNH-1050 and  Saim Seed -32). Different hybrids were developed. Data regarding Plant height (cm), No of nodes per plant, Number of squares, flowers & bolls shedded per plant, Days to squaring, Days to flowering, Number of bolls per plant, Number of monopodial branches (n), Number of sympodial branches (n), Seed cotton yield (g), Boll weight (g), Fiber quality parameters, Staple length (inches), Micronaire value, Fiber strength (g/tex), Lint percentage were taken.
