Abstract
A fungus of the powdery mildew belonging to the genus Erysiphe was collected from two sites of Azad Jammu & Kashmir on leaves of Lagerstroemia indica in Pakistan. During current studies, infected host plants were collected from District Bagh and Distt Muzaffarabad of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The molecular phylogenetic analyses were done based on sequence data of rDNA ITS. After morphological & molecular observations, the causal agent was recognized as Erysiphe australiana. It is a new record of E. australiana triggering powdery mildew on L. indica in Pakistan.
