Abstract

Abstract                 This experiment was carried out during two growing seasons (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) at the Farm of Vegetable Research, College of Agricultural engineering science, Duhok University, to study the response of three cultivars (FLIP 17-078FB, FLIP 17-072FB and Aknadcge) of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) vegetative growth and yield parameters to two mulching (Black plastic mulch) (without mulch and mulch), three planting date (1st Nov., 15th Nov. and 1st Des.) and their interaction. The results showed that the cultivar FLIP 17-072FB gave highest significant effect on plant height (cm), number of branches.plant-1, chlorophyll%, number of pods.plant-1, total yield (g.plant-1) and total yield (t.ha-1) in both seasons and weight of pods (g) in the first season. Application of mulching in both seasons significantly enhanced all parameters.  Planting date at 1st Nov. caused a significant increased  on plant height (cm), number of pods.plant-1, total yield (g.plant-1) and total yield (t.ha-1) in two growing seasons and number of branches.plant-1 in the first season. The interaction between two factors (cultivars and mulching), (cultivars and planting date) and (mulching and planting date) had a significant effect on most parameters in both seasons. The triple interaction among three factors significantly increased all parameters in the first season and in the second season, the interaction among (FLIP 17-072FB cv., with mulch and 1st Nov. planting date) gave the highest value of plant height (cm), chlorophyll%, number of pods.plan-1, weight of pod (g), pod width, total yield (g.plant-1) and total yield (t.ha-1) in first season (2021-2022).
