Abstract

This study was carried out in 2020 in Silifke Vocational School of Mersin University application areas. In the study,  effects of the using liquid worm fertilizer and liquid seaweed fertilizer on the quality of  pumpkin seedlings   was investigated.  Liquid worm fertilizer (LWF) and liquid seaweed fertilizer (LSF) were prepared as 10 mL L-1 per liter. Seeds were sown in viol filled with 2:1 (peat; perlite) mixture. Viols were left in the fertilizer solutions for 30 minutes. Viols to be used as a control were left in tap water for 30 minutes. It was then placed under the tunnel covered with gray net for germination. Emergences% (4-6 and 8 days after sowing), hypocotyl lengths, stem diameter and plant biomas measurements were determined. According to  the study, it was observed that the liquid worm and liquid seaweed fertilizer were earlier than the control at the emergences. While the hypocotyl length was 57.6 mm in liquid worm fertilizer application, it was 55.5 mm in liquid seaweed fertilizer application and 47.5 mm in control. In the application of liquid worm fertilizer, the plant root length was highest with 29.05 cm. In terms of plant fresh and dry weights, liquid worm and liquid seaweed fertilizer have received higher values than control. According to these results, seedling quality was affected positively appliying the liquid worm and liquid seaweed fertilizer  on pumpkin seeds.
