Abstract

Enable Ginger To modify the novel plant breeding techniques and methods becomes crucial because of expanding global population, increase in food demand and need to create desirable varieties for future food security. The objective of this review is to explore advancement in techniques of plant breeding and unfold the merits and demerits in modern techniques through comparative approach. Modern technologies are more time saving, accurate and reliable, these includes CRISPR-CAS-9, genomic selection, genomic biotechnology, QTL, epi-genomics, next generation sequencing, nano-biotechnology, tissue culture and double haploids etc. Modern technologies and modification in previous plant breeding techniques will be profitable in selection of valuable characters, crop breeding, crop improvement and future food security programs. Hence, with the passage of time researchers and plant breeders are continue to explore and develop new technologies to speed up the breeding programs and increase their efficiency for minimizing the yield gaps and other challenges. The information in this review will be useful for the researchers and experts to cope with current and future challenges of feeding increasing population, and will be helpful in crop improvement programs.
