A new record of Heliotropium curassavicum L. (Boraginaceae ) in Iraq

Abstract
In this research Heliotropium curassavicum L. of the family Boraginaceae was record for the first time in Iraq. The species was discovered for the first time in the village of Mekhraq, in Al-Bahar district on the banks of the Shatt Al-Arab waterway in Basrah, then it was collected from different localities along the southern part of Shatt Al-Arab. The species was taxonomically described and its geographical distribution was determined. Gross morphology, pollen morphological and anatomical characteristics were studied under electron microscope. Pollen grains were psilate and hexa-heterocolporate and the stomata were anomocytic and hemiparasytic.
